Mercer's natural tallow butter is free of harsh and unnecessary chemicals. We only use all-natural tallow that comes from grass-fed beef. Our butters are made with local, grass-fed Kentucky tallow and whipped to a decadent, light texture that melts and absorbs quickly. A similar fat saturation levels of the tallow to human skin, it is easily absorbed by the skin. Tallow's organic compatibility with our skin allows it to work as natural sebum, locking in moisture and nutrients without clogging your pores. The vitamins in tallow make it a great skincare product to help reduce the appearance of aging. Specifically, tallow from grass-fed cattle is loaded with vitamins A, D, E, and K, and antioxidants.

Heat Exposure
Whipped tallow balms can change in texture if exposed to heat. Please be mindful of this when shipping in the summer or forgetting it in your hot car! The product will not "go bad" in the heat (tallow is a very stable fat), but since the whipping process adds air to the balm, melting will cause the product to flatten out and be a thicker texture. See our Store Policy page for info on fixing a flattened tallow balm.
Melted Tallow Butter Fix
If your product has melted, it is NOT ruined! Our products do not go bad if they melt, and are not considered to be defective or damaged. The only thing that has happened is that the air has fallen out of the suspension, and in a scrub the sugar will fall to the bottom of the container. We recommend placing the jar in the fridge for a couple of hours, and then re-whipping with a hand mixer to add back air into the product, to make it light and airy again.
