Bentonite Clay

 Bentonite clay is known as a "pulling clay", on your skin. It is forms from volcanic ash. It gets its name from Fort Benton in Wyoming, where it occurs in large amounts. People can also find this clay in other places where volcanic ash has settled into the ground. Montmorillonite clay, named after Montmorillon in France.

This clay absorbs dirt and oil, like sebum.  Skin fact: Too much sebum can lead to acne. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties in the clay may help your skin heal.

You can  use bentonite clay to cleanse specific parts of the body like the face or bottoms of the feet.

A poison ivy rash can cause redness, irritation, and severe itching. Bentonite clay may be an effective treatment option after exposure to poison ivy by making a paste out of the clay and appling it to the affected area.

    Usage: For sensitive to normal skin:  Mix bentonite clay powder with water to make a thick paste. Apply to the the face, avoiding the eyes. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Repeat once a week.                                                                                                                         For oil to acne prone skin: Mix bentonite clay powder with equal parts apple cider vinager and water to make a thick paste. Apply to the areas of skin that are prone to oil or acne, avoiding the eye area. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Repeat two or three times per week.
